Hidden Universe
Hidden Universe 3D
IMAX Science Museum
Until 20 January 2014
From £10
Thursday 16 January 2014

In a galaxy far far away, the secrets of space are playing a game of hide and seek! But we took a trip to the Science Museum and managed to gain viewing access to Hidden Universe, finding out more than a few facts uncovering the mysteries of the cosmos.

3D glasses on, popcorn on hand, we settled into our seats in the Museum’s IMAX Cinema as hundreds of stars twinkled before our eyes. While some of the information may not capture the little ones’ imaginations, the mesmerising visuals will keep them glued to their seat. It was hard to believe these spectacular sights were actually real recorded images and as we travelled from a mission on Mars to a visit to a star factory back to planet Earth, the educational experience became a fascinating adventure.

In under an hour, we follow some of the top astronomers to Chile’s Atacama Desert, camping out under the stars…and with the help of the very technically named VLT (which literally translates to Very Large Telescope) we zoom in to witness the birth of stars, exploding stars and the biggest and brightest star, the Sun!

A truly out of this world experience and a science lesson with a difference, make sure you see Hidden Universe 3D before it rockets out of the Science Museum!
