February Half Term at Unicorn Theatre
February Half Term
Unicorn Theatre
All ages
10 - 18 February 2018
Tuesday 30 January 2018

February half term can be a drab prospect, wondering how to keep the kids busy in the dreary weather. Thankfully, Unicorn Theatre has a great programme of events; two great shows and a Chinese New Year themed creative workshop mean the kids will be occupied and entertained.

Othello has been thoughtfully reimagined by Unicorn Theatre to make it perfect for ages 8-12. Shakespeare can seem a bit stuffy and serious on the page, something this production has deliberately steered away from. Desdemona and Othello’s love seems like it’s all set for a happy ending, but that’s only the start of the story. The all-black cast explore love, power and prejudice in a modern and fast paced performance.

To balance out the emotionally charged performance of Othello, there’s the production of Seesaw for younger children. Exploring friendship, sharing, and the ups and downs of being very young, this early years performance wraps big ideas up in a simple narrative. With just a boy, a girl and a toy rabbit called Hairy, Seesaw creates an abundance of adventure. The show runs at 40 minutes long with the added bonus of plenty of time afterwards to play in the on-stage sandpit.

Finally, to celebrate the start of the year of the dog, there’ll be a workshop where you can immerse yourselves in colourful art and dog themed crafts to release any pent-up artistic energy. If you like theatre, workshops and access to a great cafe (for that well-deserved coffee!), then Unicorn Theatre is a great place to take your small people and no doubt enjoy yourself too.

The February Half Term programme runs from 10th – 18th February 2018 at Unicorn Theatre. For more information or to book tickets, please visit the website.
