Baby Broadway
Baby Broadway Family Concerts
Across London
All ages
Wednesday 11 May 2016

Having a baby is of course the most extraordinary experience and so it’s no surprise that in that precious first year, we are inseparable from our little offspring, dutifully attending all the NCT meet ups and baby play groups. But there comes a time when we long for something more than the nursery rhymes…as catchy as they may be. Spending the whole day engaging little people is no mean feat. Sometimes it would be great to put our own feet up and be on the receiving end of some entertainment too!

Baby Broadway’s family concerts offer just that. A joyful hour of songs from everyone’s favourite musicals and Disney films, from Dirty Dancing to Mamma Mia, these classic numbers are all performed by none other than professional West End singers. Listening to the astounding vocals of Richard Munday (The Phantom of the Opera) and Robine Landi (Sweeney Todd), is a treat in itself but also magics up a very special bonding experience. As children are incredibly receptive to music, babies love nothing more than being cuddled while listening to their mummies gleefully sing and bob along.

We had the pleasure of seeing a concert at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Putney, charming local venues often playing host to Broadway Baby’s singing spectacles. A very professional feel ran through the show, and given the amount of children, babies in particular, it’s impressively smooth running – complements to the founder Anna Unwin. With a career as a West End musician under her belt, it’s no wonder that the quality of the concerts and the level of the performers is so remarkably high.

It might have been originally created with mums and babies in mind but Baby Broadway has proven to be suitable (and immensely enjoyable!) for all ages; from babies, toddlers to pre-schoolers and, of course, their grateful parents seeking an indulgent break. Bringing West End musicals to your doorstep, and with a next series of concerts starting this week, we’d recommend signing up to Broadway Baby’s newsletter to make sure not to miss their next show near you.

The next Baby Broadway concerts will be running from 14 May – 7 June 2016 in Wimbledon, Belsize Park, Sydenham, Stoke Newton, Balham and Walthamstow. For more information or to book your tickets, please visit the website.
