Toca Nature
Tuesday 24 March 2015

Oooh those clever people over at Toca Boca seem to have done it again with their latest offering. The leaders in imaginative rule free game play, they have conceived an app to rival all others; Toca Nature, a virtual 3D app designed to simulate nature and essentially bring the experience of being outdoors, in.

This is as close as you can get to the real thing as the graphics are vibrant and the visuals are stunning. The environment features four different habitats where each has its own ecosystem ie animals, plants, food and then it’s up to your child to create their own natural world!

The landscape is very responsive to touch and the details such as day turning into night, shadows on the ground, hieroglyphs on some of the rocks all sing of a well thought out concept. There is no end goal here, the idea is to explore the beauty of nature, problem solve and be creative. There are endless possibilities, one such is feeding the animals to make them grow bigger and happier, another is creating the right conditions for the mystical white fox, white bear or white hare to appear.

Toca Nature is a calming and almost meditative game for kids to indulge in and unearth their creative side. They can take photos of their world once they are done and even the soundtrack is soothing. With no in-app purchases or add ins, this is a great way to introduce and discuss how nature interacts. A great way for kids to spend a rainy afternoon indoors!
