Have you ever met the Moji? Chances are that if you’ve experienced moving house, you’ve probably crossed paths. Settling in to a new place, and making a house a home is a big challenge, but one that can be conquered…especially when you have a good book to turn to! Enter Tom Percival’s lovely story By the Light of the Moon, a story which celebrates change.

Ivan’s first night in his new bedroom isn’t going well. It’s cold and strange and he can’t sleep. But the magic of the moonlight is here to help. A twinkling ball of light transforms into an enchanting purple creature called the Moji. Flying away on an adventure to the moon and back, with the help of some special powers, Moji shows Ivan that he can find happiness in his new home.

Cute and touching, this is a tale that wonderfully blends fantasy and reality. The illustrations really capture the warmth of Ivan’s story, a night time colour palette beautiful to look at. With lovely little touches all the way through, we particularly like that the book starts and ends with drawings of all the lunar phases for little readers to learn.

For those in a similar situation to Ivan, or for those in need of a new bedtime story, By the Light of the Moon is a must for the bookshelf.

Love,
